Travel documents

Citizens of the European Union and some other European countries may enter Italy with an identity card.

For many countries, including the United States, a valid passport is sufficient. Citizens of other countries, however, may have to apply for a visa and should therefore contact an Italian Consulate or travel agencies in their home country for further information. Please note that it can take up several weeks to process a visa application, so early application is recommended. The Conference Organising Committee cannot accept any responsibility for visa applications. Where a delegate is unable to attend because of failure to obtain a visa on time, the normal cancellation policy will apply.

If you need to apply for a visa:
  1. register for the conference
  2. pay your registration fee in full
  3. request an invitation letter

Please note that GIMBE Foundation will release invitation letters for visa applications only for delegates who have registered and paid the registration fees in full.

The Conference Organising Secretariat will not be responsible for any medical expenses, losses, or accidents incurred during the conference. Attendees are strongly advised to arrange their own personal insurance to cover medical and other expenses including accident or loss. In case of cancellation due to medical reasons, the normal cancellation policy will apply.

Citizens from EU countries are reccomended to bring their current European Health Insurance Card with them.

Taormina is in the Central European Time Zone, which is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1).

What to pack

Casual wear is appropriate for conference sessions, while formal wear is required for gala dinner. Don't forget your swimsuit / bathing trunks: wheather permitting, you won't miss to go for a dip on the private beach of Hotel Caparena. Rainwear is also advised.

Banking and currency exchange

The Italian currency is Euro. Currency may be exchanged within the airport and all major banks. Banks are generally open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 1.00 p.m.
